Main Verse: I Thessalonians 5:17 (MSG)" .....pray all the time;....."
Main Thought: Pray Without Ceasing
Message:
Last week I talked about taking God out of our box and just talking to Him all day every day. One idea was to put sticky notes with prayer needs anywhere and everywhere. I also mentioned the neat app-Prayer Notebook. This week I want to share a list of other ideas to help you to "pray without ceasing".
On the Street: As you pass by any type of problem on the road (car with a flat tire, an accident, abandoned car); if an emergency vehicle passes you-lights on or off; a driver that cuts you off-pray for that person. You never know what is going on, but prayer is always in order. Also, if you must wait in traffic, pray for the people around you, the kids on a bus, etc.
File It: If you have a small accordion type folder, simply write prayer needs on a card along with a verse and if you find yourself stuck somewhere that you have a bit of time on your hands, get out the cards and pray. This can also be done with the Prayer Notebook app or simply entering the information in your smartphone.
Lines: How many times are we caught in the longest line at the least convenient times possible? Pray for the cashier and the people around you. Pray for yourself, asking God to give you compassion and patience.
We are FAMILY: Pray for each member of your family as you sort and fold, pray when you walk past their room. Make an effort to go in each child's room each night and pray over them.
Hello, can you hear me?: Say a quick pray for wisdom before you answer the phone and that God will guide and guard your mouth!
Going to Church: As I drive to church each Sunday I pray for the services, the volunteers, our Pastor and for the people attending. I do this out-loud with my kids every Sunday.
Tune Out to Tune In : Sometimes it is important just to turn off the radio in the car, or sit for five minutes with no noise and just tune everything else out so you can hear The One that matters most. Because in the midst of all the praying, it is very important that we listen. God has so much He wants to say to us, so let's put ourselves in a place to hear Him.
This is obviously not all the ideas by any means, there are meal time prayers and bedtime prayers, but these are ideas to kick start you to help you "pray without ceasing" . It really is not so hard after all.
God is ready right now, He loves you and He's waiting.
Pray without ceasing,
Tiffany
