Never say never

Today I was out running errands and something really funny happened. I will leave the store and the clerk nameless, but here is what happened at the check out counter. I am waiting in line to be helped. A mom is behind me. she has one child in her cart who is quiet. My son is asleep in his stroller. However, the lady in front of me, being helped, has a baby in the stroller who is very quiet, and then a child about three, screaming at the top of her lungs. The mom is not phased at all. I see the clerk making faces at the child every time the child releases a scream. I am very surprised, but am just trying to wait my turn. Finally the mother in front of me moves the baby out of the stroller and puts the three year old in and instant silence. Problem solved. Well, I step up and say Hello, How are you today? The clerk answers " I wanted to kill that kid. She was acting awful. If that mom would have just put her in the stroller to begin with it would have shut her up. I am so glad I don't have kids. I would not let my kids act like that. My kids will never act like that." I wanted to laugh out loud very hard and loud!! I only smiled at the lady behind me who returned a knowing smile and comment, "It's really hard to say until you've been there." More to me than to the young childless clerk. Secretly inside I can't wait until the day when her kid is screaming at the top of her lungs and she's in a check out line.... Never say Never.
