Main Verse: Isaiah 43:1b " ...Fear not, for I have redeemed you, I have called you by name, you are mine."
Main Thought: Do we really know who God says we are?
Message: When we really believe that we are who God's says we are, there is a level of indescribable joy we begin to experience. If you are married, think how fun it was to practice writting your new last name. It took some getting used to the first 100 times or so, but oh so romantic. I remember when I was praying for my future husband and I knew how important it was going to be to marry someone from a good family. Not monetary, rather full of integrity. I clung to the verse in Proverbs 22:1 "A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold." I married well and I am so very proud to this day to have the last name of Harris. So too, as a Christian I am called a child of God, loved, and on and on. You may be struggling with names people called you when you were younger, harsh words spoken by those you loved. Maybe there is someone in your life today that calls you things that no person should ever be called.
Honestly, what prompted me writting todays' blog was something I witnessed this last week at school. I will be vague as I never write about school happenings, but this one resonnated in my heart and it was so very powerful. I was on cafteria duty and a student had misbehaved. They were asked to sit and wait inside rather than going to recess outside by an adult administrator. This child did not like that and proceeded to call the adult an insulting name. The adult came over, sat down by the child and addressed the behavior. Then said, "I am so much more than any name you could ever call me." I rehearsed that in my head, then in my heart. YOU, yes, you who are reading this- YOU are so much more than any name anyone could call you. YOU are WHO Jesus says you are. Take some time to get into His Word and see what he has to say. I know you will see, but will you really believe. My prayer is that you will. Practice writing it, even saying it out loud. How powerful.
You are who He says you are!
