Well, I made it! I am done with school myself. Being in a class of 19-three year olds five days each week for four hours per day, I definitely had my good days and a few challenging ones. I have not added pictures of the kids to my blog because I do not have their permission. But they really have grown up these past nine months. I am telling you, the first day that my lead teacher brought out the scissors-I wanted to quit!!! Right then! But, guess what? They can ALL cut well! I am particularly proud of a couple of little boys who I wondered if they would ever be able to complete ANYTHING-they improved the most. They are both July b-days so they were by far the youngest children in the class. Most of the other children were four the entire school year. There are several things that they were introduced to for the very first time and now they are well on the road to learning and growing, some can even write their names now!!! Go K-3!!!!!!
My lead teacher called me the other day asking something about the awards ceremony and the certificates. She figured out her question and I hung up. Then I laughed to myself as I thought about some funny awards we could have given. "Congratulations John Doe, you have received the award for being told to get your hands out of your pants the most". Or, "Congrats, Jane Doe, you have received the award of being told not to tattle tell for the 1,000th time". You get the idea.
Honestly, overall they grew up a little, learned their letters and numbers pretty well. They were most definitely taught God's Word and they were loved and safe. What more could a parent ask for?
I decided early on that three year olds-at least these 19 don't really say many cute things. But there were a couple of things that were said the last month that made me smile.
1.) The kids "earned" a pickle and popcorn party and one little girls said,"We got to have this party because we been-haved." Cute!!
2.) Mrs. T. had the children reenact the Bible story about Jesus wanting the little children to come to Him but the disciples told them to go away. The little boy that played Jesus was asked to give the "little children" a hug and tell them he loved them. He obeyed and told them, "I love you twenty and half quarters." Cutie Pie!!
