Keep Out of Reach of Children!!!

There is a reason that most hazardous materials bear this label. Obey it!! especially if you have little ones. I have had to call poison control three times since sweet Jack has been born. Last week was the third time I had to call them because he drank some of the girls' prescription strength fluoride rinse. Here's the story.
Everyone but Jack, were looking at something in the living room. He was in his bedroom. I heard him cough as if he had had something to drink and choked a little bit. I knew his sippy cup wasn't over there or any other drink for that matter. So in a minute I walked around to check on him. I found him on the floor in the bathroom with an empty bottle. It was the bottle that I had poured a little of the girls' rinse in. I grabbed him and the larger bottle to check the warning. I needed to seek medical attention immediately or call poison control. I opted for the latter. I calmly explained what had just happened and then cringed a bit as I wondered if they could see us showing up two other times in their past records. I was instructed to give him as much milk as he would drink because it would react with the fluoride, hopefully causing him to throw up and he would be fine. I had determined he drank about 2-3 ounces. I was thinking everything would be okay until the man said, "That is a significant amount of fluoride." Anyway, He was not too cooperative in drinking milk and I began to worry. I called the man back and asked him if it was okay if he did not throw up. Thankfully, he said it probably meant that he had not ingested enough fluoride to really hurt him. God was faithful.

Here is a list of other things Jack has drank or eaten that were no-no's:
One of Hannah's that I dropped on the floor when he was about 10 months old-he was lethargic all day
One of my one-a-day multi vitamins
These were the only other two we called about.

However, when our friends visited in April he got into their luggage and drank some witch hazel. He did not like it and we decided he had not had very much at all, thankfully due to its poor taste. And just this morning, I rounded the corner to see him licking his lips after a yummy drink of french vanilla coffee creamer. He wanted more and once I took it away, he even ran his fingers though the spill on the floor and licked them. Silly boy. Just when we think we have put things up higher and pushed them back on the counter deeper, he climbs higher and reaches deeper.

*On a very exciting note-I replaced all of the door knob covers, that Jack could open anyway, for new and improved ones. He cannot open any doors now!!! He was cute when I put the first one on, he walked over and tried it and said, "It not working". Yeah that's the idea.

Happy Toddler Proofing!!
