Motivation Monday for Moms {The Power of the Word NO}

Main Verse: James 5:12b "...Let your "Yes" be yes. And let your "no" be no."

Main Thought: The Power of the Word NO

Message:
The power to say "NO" lies within me.  That two letter word is very powerful. It's a word we hear from a little two year  over and over all day long, and yet for most (not all) of us we just have a hard time. I am not talking about being mean at all, I'm just thinking of all the things I said Yes to that meant I said No to important things in my life.
Like I stated before, the power to use that word lies within me.  'No' to unhealthy foods that cause the weight I have been wanting to lose.  'No' to surfing the internet or watching that pointless show. By saying Yes to certain things I am saying NO to things like-reading a book to my child, talking to my husband, encouraging friends or family. Am I saying No to my child's whining, even if it means they don't like it because sooner or later I need to teach them they do not get anything good by whining. And I'm the grown-up, not them. Am I saying No to social media because that could mean a Yes to learning a memory verse or reading a book. Am I saying No to trying to do-it-all because the others in my family need to learn responsibility.  This will teach them new skills and also how to serve others. Am I saying No to wiping the fridge handle three times a day or sweeping twice a day because my kids could absolutely care less.  For every thing I am not saying No to there is a Yes I am denying that carries far more weight.
In looking at this and considering the Power of No-consider the decision(s) that are before you.  Ask yourself which decision has more long-lasting/ eternal/ meaningful/goal achieving benefit and the answer will become very clear. Not always easy, but very clear.  I encourage you today to consider all that you have said Yes to and begin to introduce the word No where it seems necessary.  It may be scary at first, but trust God and He will guide you.

Practice your "NO" today,
Tiffany
