I really enjoy being creative, when I have the time. I am constantly seeing things and making a mental note of making it "later". When we were visiting my parents this summer, the kids and I made some crafts with my mom. One of the things I did was a wooden block. It is my favorite of the three.
It is very easy to make, so here is what you need:
A sturdy piece of lumber. Mine measures 9x9x 1 1/2 inches thick. My mom already had mine so I am not sure where she got it. I know that a local hardware store is your best bet. Not even my favorite big chain craft store had these).
Acrylic paint-one-two colors of your choice
Embellishments (Chipboard letters or numbers, buttons, metal flowers, clothes pins)
Hot glue
Paint brush
(picture hanger if desired)
Directions:
Take your wood and dry brush the paint on. This simply means you take your paint brush, dip it in the paint and just gently paint without full coverage. Do this on the sides as well, very lightly.
Once it has dried, hot glue your embellishments on and you are done. (Attach picture hanger if desired)
Ours sits on the top shelf of our entertainment shelf. These would make a great gift for a wedding or even to sit in someone's office.
Happy Crafting,
Tiffany
