Maternal/Fetal Monitoring(aka.- labor)
But off we went, Adam, Hannah, Brooklin and Jack and I. They hooked my belly up to a monitor and I was to push a button each time I felt Jack move. They no sooner hooked me up and walked out that I felt a contraction. And I had three more before they came in to check. But as soon as they checked-I could tell something was up. It turned out that with each contraction Jack's heart rate was going down. That concerned them and then it concerned me. I continued to have contractions-I guess I was in labor now. After nurses coming in and out and the doctor of the Maternal/Fetal Monitoring office came in, we found out the scoop. We were told we "might need to go on to the hospital and they would let my doctor know." O.K. I asked if we could go by the house and pick up my suitcase. For whatever reason it was not already in the car. I cringed with the thought of my unmade bed at home and the few items I still needed to put in the suitcase. I guess I can blame that on it being my third child?? Anyway, they "suggested" that we just go on to the hospital and Adam could get the suitcase later. (A side note here. After my doctor's appointment I called my mom and told her that it didn't look like we would be having Jack until the following week. And I was feeling upset because mom and dad were scheduled to be out of town and so was Adam's mom. But I informed her that we were going for some fetal monitoring and I would call her later. She lives in a small town 30 miles from where we were living, but that day she needed to be at the eye glass place right by the hospital. As soon as we found out that I was going to the hospital I called mom back and told her. We were in shock mode and mom still laughs about how sober Adam was. We literally passed mom in her car as we drove to the Hospital. We stopped her and she said Adam did not say a word as he put the girls in her car). Off we went.
